2024-25 proposed budget hearing, vote and Board of Education election

A public hearing on the Fort Plain Central School District’s proposed budget for the 2024-25 school year will be held on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at 6 p.m. in the District Office Conference Room.

Residents will vote on the proposed budget on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, from 11 a.m. – 8 p.m. in the Harry Hoag Elementary School Library.

Residents will also vote on propositions to:

  • purchase three school vehicles;
  • elect three members to the Board of Education for (2) three-year terms and (1) one-year term. Nominating petitions for the Board of Education are due with the District Clerk no later than April 22 at 5 p.m.
  • allow the Fort Plain Free Library to increase its annual taxpayer supported appropriation from $85,000 to $100,000. While included annually for voter consideration along with the school district’s budget and Board of Education vote, the library appropriation is separate and apart from the Fort Plain school district annual budget. These monies are raised annually along with other taxes on taxable property within the district and paid over by the Fort Plain municipality to the trustees of the library.
