Exposure to multiple messages designed to influence their perceptions of the importance of food choices in life. Learning to make informed decisions about food and nutrition now and their future roles.

GOURMET/
INTERNATIONAL FOODS
Grade: 9-12
Introduces the ways in which the culture and traditions of regions and countries influence food choices. Identifying and preparing foods from various regions and countries to compare cuisines, ingredients used, and preferred methods for cooking.

FOOD SCIENCE
Grade: 9-12
Exploring cooking as an application of chemistry. Practical applications of food science and its relevance in food preparation, food biochemistry, food microbiology, food preservation, and food safety.

HISTORY OF HOUSING & INTERIOR DESIGN
Grade: 9-12
Learn to make wise housing choices from foundation to roof top and in between. The focus is on the development of efficient and cost-effective room and floor planning that meet the individual needs. Students will develop the skills to plan or assist in the planning of their own living space.

PARENTING
Grade: 9-12
Provide students with a foundation of knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to promote quality growth and development of children and families in school, community, and workplace settings. Students will develop an understanding of the diversity of families, how diversity impacts parenting choices and outcomes, and to identify the knowledge and skills necessary for successful parenting.

LIFE ON YOUR OWN
Grade: 9-12
Opportunity to get guidance through obstacles you will face as you make your way into the world on your own. Learn about situations that you may experience when it’s time to move on your own including: money management, personal wellness, transportation, employment skills, emergency & safety skills, and more.
