Athletics
Welcome to the Athletic Program of the CFP. We believe that participation in athletics is a privilege that provides an opportunity for developing life-long skills that complement the academic classroom.
The athletic program is founded on the principle that the playing field is an extension of the classroom and that the athletic experience contributes to the growth of mind and body through dedication, cooperation and the importance of working collectively toward a common goal.
When a student chooses to participate in our programs, they commit themselves to higher standards of behavior, responsibility, and academic performance. This handbook has been prepared as a reference for students and parents/guardians to define the rules, regulations, and policies necessary for a well-organized, safe, and successful experience. Participation in interscholastic athletics is a privilege, not a right, a distinction held by both the district and the New York State Commissioner of Education.
Our program is governed by the policies and regulations established by the New York State Education Department (NYSED), the Fort Plain and Canajoharie Boards of Education, the Western Athletic Conference (WAC), Section II Athletics and the New York State Public High School Athletic Association.
Code of Conduct
Students who choose to participate in CFP programs have committed themselves to certain responsibilities and obligations.
Student-athletes are representatives of their team, school and community. They are expected to demonstrate the highest standards of conduct, sportsmanship and personal responsibility 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 12 months a year, both in and out of season.
