Elementary Gifted & Talented
This program has two features. The first is the Elementary Student Council, advised by Mrs. Hext. The Student Council is open to students in Grades 4-6, by election. The Student Council performs community service, work within the school to promote and provide extra activities and use the club as a platform for practicing government and civics.
The second part of the program includes afterschool enrichment activities, provided by Mrs. Broady. The activities change year to year, but the topics include English Language Arts (ELA) and spelling bee, math facts, engineering, architecture, community service, recycling and the environment.
The Elementary Student Council provides a platform for students to make a difference in their school, as leaders and representatives of the student body. The enrichment programs provide students with a place to expand on their skills and interests, in a non-competitive environment that focuses on creativity and out-of-the-box thinking.
