The October 11 open house/school and community meet and greet has been postponed to Oct. 22.
Parents are invited to an open house/school and community meet and greet on Oct. 22 at Fort Plain Junior Senior High School. Parents should meet in the auditorium for a brief welcome presentation, and then proceed to the gym to receive their child’s progress report, free raffle tickets, and meet the teachers.
All teachers will be grouped at tables by departments and will be available to meet one-on-one to talk about their classes, provide course information, and answer general questions about their curriculum and expectations.
During the event, parents can also enter to win raffle baskets donated by the school’s staff, talk with representatives from various community agencies and school sponsored clubs, view student artwork in the upper lobby, sign-up to join the PTA, and participate in an interactive display in the library called, “Shawna Has a Secret,” aimed at helping to identify signs of trouble in teens.
Presented by the Schoharie County Council on Alcoholism and Substance Abuse (SCCASA), the display will give each person the opportunity to look through Shawna’s room for signs of trouble. A SCCASA prevention specialist will than take parents through the signs and talk about what to do. The program lasts approximately 90 minutes.
