Erik Kuntzsch, Meagan Kane head class of 2008

Photo of Erik KuntzschValedictorian Erik Kuntzsch, son of Pamela and Steve Kuntzsch, has been on the Principal’s List all four years of high school and has been class president in each of those years. His activities include baseball, basketball, and soccer in grades 9-12; band, National Honor Society, OK2XL, Boys’ State, Prom Committee, Students Against Destructive Decisions, and Superintendent’s Advisory Council. Kuntzsch’s academic honors include Academic Excellence Award, Mayflower Society Award, Kodak Young leaders Award, Superintendent’s Award, and Clarkson University Leadership Award. In the fall, he will attend Marist College, majoring in Bio-Medical Sciences.

Salutatorian Meagan Kane, daughter of Holly and Richard Kane, has been active in basketball, soccer, softball, band, National Honor Society, OK2XL, HOBY, Prom Committee, and Superintendent’s Advisory Council. Her leadership positions have included secretary of her class in grades 9-12, treasurer of the band, and soccer and basketball captain. Among her academic honors and awards, Kane has received the Frederick Douglas and Susan B. Anthony Scholarship; Superintendent’s Award; Mayflower Society Award; and most Outstanding English Student Award. Outside of school, she has been employed by the Youth Summer Recreation Program; was Regional Miss VFW; and has been a volunteer at Manna House Meals, Salvation Army, and Natalie’s Walk. Kane will attend SUNY Oneonta to study elementary education and Spanish.

Photo of Brittani MacFaddenBrittani MacFadden, daughter of Lisa Trembley and Bryan MacFadden, has been active in National Honor Society, OK2XL, Chorus, including the group Harmony; all-county and all-state Choir; Library Club, Drama Club, Students Against Destructive Decisions; and cheerleading. A National Merit Commended Scholar, MacFadden’s other honors include Bausch & Lomb Science award, Principal’s List, Student of the Month, and National Physical Fitness Award. Outside of school, she is employed at Palatine Bridge Pizza Hut and takes college prep night classes at Roth School of Art. In the fall, MacFadden will attend Marist College as a biology education major.

Photo of Jillian FredericksJillian Fredericks, daughter of Lori and David Fredericks, has been involved in National Honor Society, Superintendent’s Advisory Council, Student Council (2007-08 vice president), OK2XL, Band, Prom Committee, basketball, soccer (2007 captain), softball, and Girl’s State. Her academic honors include a 90+ average in grades 9-12; Softball all-star; soccer tournament most valuable player, and most improved female athlete for 2005-06 and 2006-07. Fredericks’ out-of school activities include babysitting, Salvation Army, Natalie’s Walk, Manna House, and activities at the Fort Plain United Methodist Church. In the fall, Fredericks will attend SUNY Cortland.

Photo of Ryan HudynciaRyan Hudyncia, son of Robert and Shirley Hudyncia, has been a member of Student Council, National Honor Society, Superintendent’s Advisory Council, SADD, Prom and Post Prom committees, OK2XL, and Band, and has participated in baseball, soccer, and swimming. He has served as president of both SADD and Student Council. Hudnycia’s honors and awards include Underclassman Student of the Year, Underclassman Athlete of the Year, Principal’s List, and student of the Month. Outside of school, Hudyncia has been active in Montgomery County 4-H, Triathalon Team Believe, Fulmont Road Runners Club, Jr. Holstein Club, and O-H-M Holstein Club, serving as show chairman. Hudyncia will attend SUNY Oneonta.

Photo of Greg FailingGregory M. Failing, son of David Failing Sr. and Melissa Failing has been on the Principal’s List during every quarter of his high school career. He has participated in Library Club; OK2XL; wrestling, grades 10-12; golf, grade 12; track and field, grades 9-12, and has been a counselor for the Fort Plain Summer Recreation Program. Failing is an Academic All-Star for Track and Field, Wrestling, and Golf and he was awarded the Wrestling 2nd Effort Award. Recipient of Utica College President’s Scholarship, the highest honor awarded to a first-year student, Failing will attend the college as an accounting major.

Jessica Rodiquez, daughter of John and Jodie Rodriquez, has been active in National Honor Society; Chorus, where she served as president; band, where she served as secretary; has been a member of the singing group Harmony, a member of SSAC; is class of 2008 Public Relations Officer; has been a cheerleader in grades 9-12; and has played soccer in grades 9-11. She will attend Hartwick College in the fall.

Courtney Nestler, daughter of Patricia and LeRoy Nestler, has been involved in Chorus, Library Club, National Honor Society, OK2XL, and cheerleading during high school. Her awards and honors include the Academic Excellence Award, All-American Cheerleading, and Exceptional Senior for Cheerleading. In her off-school hours, Nestler works at Subway. In the fall she will attended SUNY Oneonta and mayor in Dietetics.

Nathan Hazzard, son of Herman and Mary Hazzard, has participated in Golf, grade 12; Track and Field, 9-11; wresting, 9-12 (captain); and OK2XL. Among his awards are WAC Academic All-Star; Principal’s List; 2nd Effort Award, wrestling, and Gatorade Rookie of the Year for Track. Outside of school, he is employed at Tal-Blick Farms and is active in Fordsbush Bible Church. Winner of the Robert Ioninella Scholaship at SUNY Brockport, he will attend that college in the fall.

Souni Souvannason, daughter of Melissa Souvannason, has been active in National Honor Society; Student Council, grade 10; OK2XL; Library Club; softball, volleyball, Prom Committee; and Yearbook. Her leadership positions have included class treasurer, grades 11 and 12; Libaray Club treasurer, Yearbook editor, and volleyball captain. Outside of school, she is active at Fordsbush Bible Church. Souvannason’s honors include Academic Honor Plaque and Academic Excellence in Spanish. In the fall, Souvannason will attend Mohawk Valley Community College.

 

Graduation ceremony for the class of 2008 will take place on Saturday, June 28 beginning at 10 a.m. in Harry Hoag  gymnasium.
