Fort Plain High School combines two programs
for college-bound seniors
Fort Plain Jr./Sr. High School invites parents
or students with financial aid questions to an event from 9:30 a.m.
to noon, Saturday, Jan. 28, in the school library. The school
combined its financial aid workshop with the College Goal Sunday
program to form one event this year.
The goal is to provide parents and students
with an overview of the financial aid process s and to provide
assistance with completing the necessary forms. School counselor
Colleen Cushing said financial aid professionals from around the
area would be on hand to assist families throughout the event with
the online completion of both the Free Application for Federal
Student Aid (FAFSA) and the New York State TAP Application.
At 9:30 a.m., parents will see a presentation
giving an overview of the financial aid process, followed by
hands-on help in the computer lab. Families should plan on staying
for about 30 minutes. The event is also open to families from St.
Johnsville and Canajoharie.
“We actually had waning turn-out for our
financial aid night, but a good amount of interest in our College
Goal Sunday, so we decided to combine the two,” Ms. Cushing said.
“We’ve had phone calls with families registering already.”
During the presentation, a representative from
the Fort Plain Scholarship Association will be available to help
Fort Plain students.
If your child wants to attend, please register
in advance with the guidance office at 993-4000 ex. 2128, or at
www.collegeboalsundayny.com.
