Business and information technology teacher Kathleen DeKalb was
elected to a two-year term as secretary of the Council of
Educational Associations (NYSCEA) at the organization’s May meeting.
NYSCEA is an umbrella organization of about 40 professional New York
state educational associations consisting of teachers, nurses,
administrators, and union groups that work closely with the New York
State Department of Education and the Board of Regents.
NYSCEA
exists to facilitate communication among its membership in order to
clarify common, as well as unique, concerns; and to arrive at a
consensus regarding important educational issues. Member
organizations meet three times a year to share prospective on
crucial educational issues and promote quality education for all NYS
students.
DeKalb is past president of Business Teachers Association of NYS and
served as the organization’s president from 2002-04 and from
2006-08.
