UPDATE: Students have raised a total of $1,510
for this worthy cause. A job well done!
Kindergarten
students Alyssa and Allison and sixth grader Jason count
and roll Pennies for Patients at Harry Hoag Elementary School in
Fort Plain. Sponsored by the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Pennies
for Patients asks children to donate spare change in any amount
possible to help support programs for leukemia,
lymphoma, and other blood cancer patients and to fund research to
find a cure for blood cancers.
Beginning in mid-January, students in
kindergarten to grade six collected change in small boxes and
brought it to school. The drive will conclude Feb. 18. As of Feb. 2,
the $600 mark in change collected had been easily surpassed. Alyssa,
Allison, and Jason are just a few of the many Harry Hoag students
who have contributed their money and time for this cause.
Since 1994, millions of dollars have been raised in pennies and
other spare change by more than 10 million elementary, middle and
high school students throughout the country.
